Victory Through Ability’s on the job support services aim to create a supportive and inclusive work environment for you to thrive and reach your full potential. By offering tailored assistance, and ongoing guidance, these services will contribute to your job satisfaction, increased independence, and long-term career success.
Working With Your Team
Starting a new job can be nerve racking. However, there is no need to worry. Your employment consultant can have a conversation with your managers to ensure that they understand how to best support you. (Please note that we will only speak to your managers if you have explicitly given us permission to do so).
Reasonable Adjustments
Many people are hesitant to ask for reasonable adjustments in the workplace, as they are concerned that they may lose their job. But this is not the case. In fact, employers are more than happy to make adjustments for you if it is required for you to do your job safely and effectively. If you need any modifications due to your disability (such as a dedicated workspace, hand railings, a change in work hours, or a support worker to assist you at the workplace) we can speak with your manager to put everything in place for you.
Assistive Technology For The Workplace
If you’re worried that your disability will impact your capacity to do a job, then assistive technology may be the solution. We can help you find technology that will support you in your chosen career path while we are job searching, so that you have time to familiarise yourself with the product or software before you start working. In some cases, we may also conduct what is known as a “work site assessment”. This means that once you have been offered a new job, an expert will come to your workplace and determine if there are any technologies or devices that can help you with your job. If you do need assistive technology then we will complete all the paperwork for you so that it funded by Job Access, meaning that both you and your employer don’t have to pay a cent!
